2023 SCT Award for young industrial investigator in Medicinal Chemistry

The Société de Chimie Thérapeutique is proud to announce that the 2023 SCT Award for Young Industrial Investigator in Medicinal Chemistry has been awarded to Dr Nicolas George (Aqemia, France).

This prize has been awarded during the 30th Young Research Fellows Meeting in Paris, 1-3 February 2023.

History and Scope

  • The award is run annually.
  • The scope is drug discovery chemistry, medicinal chemistry, chemical biology and synthesis of bioactive compounds.
  • The winner receives 2500 € and a certificate.
  • The winner will be honoured on the SCT media (website, newsletter, social networks,…).
  • The winner will be invited* to give a Lecture at the annual Young research Fellow Meeting * (housing and travel fees will be taken in charge by SCT (lump-sum)).
  • The winner will engage in SCT activities (membership, webinars, meetings, …) for 2 years at least following the Prize.
  • The winner will engage to be an ambassador of SCT promoting its actions and compling with standard scientific ethical behavior.

Eligibility

  • be a mid-career scientist.
  • be < 40 years old and/or have < 12 years of experience since completion of PhD on the 1st Jan of the prize year. (NB Career breaks for personal (parental leave, …), or exceptional reasons will be taken into consideration.
  • be either French or based in France.
  • work in industry at the time of application.
  • be a SCT Member or affiliate to SCT at the time of application submission (http://www2.sct-asso.fr/english).

Nomination process

  • Application opening date is October 20, 2022
  • Self nomination only
  • The application should include:

     o A curriculum vitae (5 pages max) that includes a list of scientific publications and/or patents and keywords for the work performed after PhD and how the applicant is, or wishes to get, involved at SCT.

     o A Copy of ID-card or equivalent with birth date

     o The application can optionally include a recommendation letter from a senior scientist in the field (this scientist cannot be part of the SCT Boards).
